In the religions of the world primarily the Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Confucianism which are the major religions, there is a common goal or path which is “doing good” and be
rewarded in the afterlife. That is the most basic core belief system that causes the religions to be similar. In the Christianity, Islam, and Hindu religion, there is a belief of a single god.
Christians have God, Islam has Allah (God), and Hindu has Brahman (God). These religions have different names but essentially believe in a single entity that is focused on. Buddhism does not
believe in a god. A simple answer to a question of “Do Buddhist believe in god?” Buddha teaches that the god-idea is a response to fear and frustration[1]. There is no god in Confucianism, but
rather a force called the Tao, also known as the Great Ultimate. [2]
Another similarity between all the religions is the messenger. Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Confucianism all were similar in this respect since each one had a sole person who delivered the
message to their respective beliefs. Christians had Jesus (son of God), Islam has Muhammad which is a prophet of Allah, Buddhism had Buddha who was the founder of the religion, and
Confucianism had Kung Fu Tzu, better known as Confucius. Hinduism on the other hand was not necessarily founded as a religion but a culture that turned into a religion later on[3].
The similarities of Hinduism, Confucianism, and Buddhism were peace, so when introduced to each other and other religions that were not similar to them wasn’t about who is right or wrong,
but more about acceptance to each other as a person. Christianity and Islam are similar in their ways. First Christianity introduced Martyr’s. The Martyr was someone whom the Roman
Authorities executed for persisting in their Christian beliefs instead of submitting.[4] Islam later honored martyrs for dying for their faith.
